A Typical Work Week

This is a full-time, in-person role at our West Des Moines office. Remote work is not available.

As the Web Design Director at TwoTone, you’ll do more than design websites—you’ll set the standard for excellence in web design. This role blends strategy, leadership, and hands-on creative work to ensure every project is visually stunning, user-focused, and strategically sound.

You’ll lead and mentor our web design team, establish best practices, and keep TwoTone at the forefront of design trends. From high-level planning to creative execution, you’ll take ownership of the entire web design process—guiding large-scale website projects from concept to completion, ensuring every detail aligns with client goals and our agency’s commitment to remarkable work.

This position is perfect for a visionary designer who thrives on leading teams, collaborating across departments, and making big ideas come to life. If you’re passionate about combining creativity with strategy, love setting the bar high, and can balance design excellence with organizational leadership, you’ll fit right in.

Required Skills

Bachelor’s degree in web design, web development, graphic design or visual communications
5+ years of website design experience
Previous experience in management or leadership roles
Demonstrated strengths in web design, project management, marketing, and communications
Experience using WordPress
Self-starter who works well independently and in a team environment with a strong interest in graphic design
Comfortable working with conservative Christian churches and non-profits
Online portfolio displaying strong graphics and development skills
Demonstrated knowledge of current web design trends and techniques
Ability to clearly and professionally communicate visual solutions to support marketing strategies and web initiatives
Capacity to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
Positive outlook and professionalism in all aspects of daily tasks
Uses good judgment and works with integrity
Ability to quickly change from one project to another
Adeptness with learning new apps and software
Punctual and dependable

Strategize large website projects

Other Responsibilities:

Review work, troubleshoot, and provide feedback to the web design team
Remain actively involved in hiring and training web design staff
Ensure agency systems and processes are followed
Oversee profitability, deliverables, timelines, and budgets
Meet with clients or leadership team to explain strategies and solutions
Ensure consistency in web design and development
Design solutions both internally and for clients
Manage the web design process from concept to completion
Lead web design efforts
Lead web design sessions to generate ideas
Conduct market research
Collaborate with other team members and departments
Ensure visual communication and brand standards are met
Oversee client proposals for websites
